AMOEI PE Builder helps you to FREE create a bootable environment based on Windows PE without installing AIK/WAIK and that allows you to create a Windows recovery CD/DVD/ISO with an easy-to use GUI. Additionally, you get a couple of useful recovery tools, such as a free system backup tool and a partition manager.
How to create a recovery CD?
The procedure is simple; however it involves a lot of type-type because you have to do most of the installation work at a command prompt.
In AMOEIs PE Builder, the process will go much faster and also you dont need to download the Windows ADK, and quite a few useful troubleshooting tools are already included. Additionally, you can start Microsofts Windows Recovery Environment from AMOEIs Windows PE installation.
So this type of tool comes with an easy-to-use wizard and then five clicks, your recovery CD is ready to be created. After, you will need a few more clicks only if you want to add your own tools and drivers, which the wizard supports. At the end of the procedure, you can burn your CD/DVD, create a USB recovery stick, or just store your installation as an ISO file which you can use in virtual environments.
Note: You cant create the recovery CD on Windows 8.1. At the moment, the PE Builder wizard only runs on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2012. But, you can use the boot media that the tool creates to recover a Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2 machine.
How to include recovery tools?
The PE Builders wizard accepts you to choose which of the integrated tools you want to include in your recovery CD. The integrated tools are as follows:
AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard:
A partition manager can certainly be useful if you have to troubleshoot a Windows installation that is unable to boot up.
AOMEI Backupper Standard:
Just before you start troubleshooting a Windows installation in offline mode, you might want to create a system image so you can restore the original installation if you totally messed it up.
Everything:
This tool is not selected by default in the PE Builders boot media creation wizard. It is a search utility that displays all files of the Windows installation that you want to recover. Also, the very fast search filter allows you to locate every file within seconds.
Recuva:
It is a data recovery program for Windows, developed by Piriform. It is able to recover files that have been “permanently” deleted and marked by the operating system as free space. The program can also be used to recover files deleted from USB flash drives, memory cards, or MP3 players.
QtWeb:
It is a free and open-source web browser developed by LogicWare & LSoft Technologies. It is based on Qt framework and WebKit layout engine.
The other tools included are,
o 7-Zip
o IrfanView
o Notepad++
o SumatraPDF
o Q-Di
o PENetwork
o FileZilla
o OSFMount
o BOOTICE
o CPU-Z
And also, The AMOEI web page also lists NTPWEdit, a freeware tool that allows you to reset Windows passwords, but I couldnt find it on the recovery CD. However, it shouldnt be a big problem to add the tool with PE Builders wizard.
